Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress and songwriter for several years. Sara Ramirez was brought up by an American mother, and faced a lot racial taunts and caused her to feel uncomfortable. It was in her ninth grade that she gained confidence after being highly praised at an audition. The event not only helped the confidence of her, but also altered her outlook on life. She attended the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. She began her career when she was 23 years old, appearing in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and the film You've Got Mail. Her most memorable break came from her performance as The Lady of The Lake, in the first Broadway adaptation of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC her role was given greater recognition. In addition to being an acclaimed singer she has released two solo albums and a longer piece. In addition, she has been an advocate for LGBT issues.
